How long does it take to upload an HD property video tour to YouTube?
By Clifford P
Let’s say an HD property video tour is about 2:30 in duration (2 minutes and 30 seconds). The file size will be over 50MB (50 megabytes). The longer the video, the greater the file size.
YouTube is run by Google (I’m sure you’ve heard of them–they’re big…) so their servers and speed are top-notch. Maybe not perfect, but still better than what you have, right?
YouTube’s help page answer’s our question quite succinctly:
Learn More: Upload time
Depending on your connection speed and the size of the video, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a video. Generally, if you have a high-speed Internet connection you can expect the upload to take somewhere between 1-5 minutes for every 1MB. However, the experience is different for every user because of the variation in connection speeds.
So, according to YouTube, a 2:30, 50MB video could take 50 minutes to upload. Yikes! Then, once the video is uploaded, YouTube runs the video through its video processor (like all video sites do). And God forbid your Internet connection times out or the server goes through some reset at just the wrong time and you have to start over…
Now, imagine you want to put your video on YouTube and Site 2 and Site 3 and __________ ….
That’s what we’re here for!
We shoot the photos, shoot the video, and upload the video. How much expertise and/or time do you NOT have to do all that stuff?
