Ever heard of “Flash” videos or “Flash” tours? Adobe Flash is a technology used to play videos across the Internet – it’s not referring to the speed of the video. ;)
Flash is great for those who have the software to run it – it’s a separate program from your Internet browser (IE, FireFox, Chrome, Safari, etc).
Apple products like the iPad and iPhone don’t (and most likely never will) support Adobe Flash’s software. If you try to view Flash-only video, it’ll just look like empty space on the webpage – you might not otherwise know a video is even supposed to be there.
The Solution (Yes, we do this :)
Play the video with Flash if the computer has Flash and play a different version of the video if the computer doesn’t. This is commonly known as “Flash Fallback”. It’s not easy or cheap because you need to have to detect the browser type and keep multiple file versions of every single video (like .flv, .mp4, .mov, etc. – not that we use these video file types, just for example purposes). But you don’t have to worry about it – Flash Fallback is included in your video tour price.
This is especially important when Buyers are out-and-about scanning QR Codes and Tags or searching houses for sale around them on Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.com!
